What We Do

CERT programs train volunteers in basic disaster response skills to assist their communities during emergencies. It provides a standardized approach to disaster preparedness and response, enabling volunteers to support professional emergency responders.

Roles of CERT Volunteers

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers play a vital role in disaster preparedness and response. They are trained to assist their communities during emergencies. Here are the main responsibilities of CERT volunteers:

Basic Emergency Support

  • Provide basic first aid to those in need.

  • Check on neighbors to ensure their safety.

  • Support local emergency centers during disasters.

Event Participation

  • Staff booths at community events.

  • Help with traffic and crowd control at community events.

Community Engagement

  • Educate the public on disaster preparedness.

  • Work with local police and fire departments. Assist first responders.

  • Distribute information to the public about safety and preparedness.

Training and Eligibility

  • CERT is open to adults and teens that are at least 18 years of age.

  • Volunteers complete a basic CERT training course, which is typically free.

By fulfilling these roles, CERT volunteers enhance community resilience and support professional first responders during critical situations.

Low Commitment, Big Reward
