Who WE Are

We Are Souhegan CERT

We are a group of citizens, your neighbors and co-workers, who are trained to respond 24 hours a day if any of our Souhegan CERT communities need help.  When assistance is needed we are deployed by the Police and Fire Departments for scene traffic control, search and rescue, mass casualty incidents or any other emergency where additional personnel are needed.

The CERT team program helps train citizens to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. If asked we also work with our local communities to help with traffic control for various public events such as parades, holiday events and local markets that will stretch the resources of our local Police and Fire Departments. CERT plays a crucial role in supporting our first responders.

Some Advantages for our Volunteers and Communities

• Empowerment and Preparedness: CERT training raises family and personal safety awareness and readiness for a range of risks.

• Community Resilience: By encouraging readiness and supporting mitigation initiatives, trained volunteers contribute to the development of stronger, more resilient communities.

• Assistance to First Responders: By enhancing emergency response capabilities, CERT teams free up professionals to concentrate on more difficult tasks during emergencies.
